Who We Are
Unicode to NonUnicode is an independent project, not a company. It does one thing — convert Telugu text between Unicode and Anu Script encoding — and nobody funds it, which is why there are no ads, no sign-ups, and no tracking of the text you paste in.
What we actually maintain is the mapping data. The converter runs on a table of 684 mapped Telugu forms across both Anu versions: 63 base characters, 39 vattu forms, and 582 gunintam clusters. 652 of those 684 produce different bytes in Anu 6 than in Anu 7, which is why picking the wrong version garbles a file. That table is the real product; the interface is just a way to use it. You can read the whole thing on the Anu font mapping table.
How the mapping data was built
- Compiled from published Anu conversion tables, not guessed from the shapes of characters or generated by substituting one letter for the next.
- Cross-checked against a second, independent converter before it shipped. Agreement runs at 86.5% forward and 93.4% in reverse once the two sources' byte encodings are normalised.
- Disagreements are flagged, not papered over. Where our two sources conflicted, we say so rather than silently picking one. Those forms are documented and still open for correction.
- The table and the tool cannot drift apart. Every reference chart on this site is generated from the same data the converter runs on, so what you look up is exactly what the tool produces.
